This phone is a little over one year old, and just this week I noticed an about one inch fine crack running from the dock connector upward toward the letter I in iPhone. I hope they'll replace at least the case. It's never been dropped, so there seems to be an issue with the plastic. Exact same problem here, just noticed it. I'd try to talk to somebody else. i had the exact same problem, TWICE. And in both instances they replaced the phone, no questions asked. the plastic in the 3g has a definite problem with cracking. hmmmm.
